Lexicon Prompt Library

Last Updated: April 2026

Privacy-First Design

Lexicon is built with privacy as a core principle. Your prompt library is stored entirely on your local device in a SQLite database, and we collect zero personal information about you or your prompts.

What This Policy Covers

This privacy policy explains how Helton Labs LLC ("we," "our," or "us") handles information in connection with the Lexicon prompt management application ("Lexicon" or "the App"). This policy applies to the Lexicon macOS application available through the Mac App Store.

Information We Do NOT Collect

Lexicon is designed with a privacy-first architecture. We do not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

  • Prompt Content - Your prompts, templates, messages, or any text you enter
  • Template Variables - Argument values, variable names, or rendered output
  • Usage Analytics - How you use the app, which features you access, or frequency of use
  • Device Information - Hardware details, operating system version, or device identifiers
  • Location Data - Your physical location or IP address
  • Search Queries - What you search for within your prompt library
  • AI Interactions - Conversations or commands sent to AI assistants through MCP integration

How Your Data Is Stored

100% Local-Only Storage

Your prompt library is stored entirely on your local device in a SQLite database:

  • Local SQLite Database - All data stored in a single database file on your Mac
  • No Cloud Sync - Data never leaves your device
  • No Network Transfers - Your prompt data is never transmitted over the internet
  • Full Control - Export your complete library as JSON anytime
  • No Vendor Servers - We have no servers and never see or access your data

Network Communication

Lexicon only communicates over the network for:

  • App Store Updates - Updates delivered through Mac App Store

AI Integration and Data Access

Model Context Protocol (MCP)

Lexicon includes an optional MCP server that allows AI assistants (like Claude Desktop) to access your prompt library. This integration:

  • Runs Locally - The MCP server operates entirely on your Mac
  • Requires Explicit Setup - You must manually configure AI assistants to access your data
  • Provides Full Control - You can disable or remove AI access at any time
  • Logs All Changes - Every AI modification is recorded with attribution

Data Security

Multi-Layer Protection

Your prompt data is protected by:

  • macOS Security - Apple's built-in file system encryption and access controls
  • App Sandboxing - Lexicon runs in a secure sandbox environment
  • Local-Only Storage - Data never leaves your device, eliminating network security risks
  • FileVault Encryption - Your SQLite database is encrypted when FileVault is enabled

Your Rights and Control

Complete Data Ownership

You have absolute control over your data:

  • Access - View all your data at any time within the app
  • Export - Export your complete prompt library as JSON or ZIP archive
  • Backup - Manually copy your database file to any backup location
  • Deletion - Delete individual prompts or your entire library
  • Portability - Move your data to other applications via JSON export

International Users

Lexicon's local-only design means that data protection regulations are inherently satisfied:

  • GDPR Compliance - No personal data is processed or transmitted by us
  • CCPA Compliance - No personal information is collected or sold
  • Data Location - All data stays on your local device in your jurisdiction

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on our website with an updated "Last Updated" date and communicated through App Store update notes if material changes occur.
