Bet A Day Documentation

Guide to daily market practice: placing bets, watching practice bets, live tracking, and your track record.

Getting Started

Bet A Day helps build disciplined market habits by limiting you to one clear decision per trading day. Capture your thesis, commit before the open, and review performance with simple stats.

Daily Flow

  1. Before the market opens, enter your Ticker, choose Direction (Long/Short), and write a brief Reason.
  2. If you’ve already set tomorrow’s bet, you can edit it before the next open.
  3. During market hours, track live performance of the active bet.
  4. After close, add a retrospective and tag decision quality.

Placing Your Bet

Use the main entry form to set up the next bet when the market is closed. The app shows a countdown until the next open and prevents multiple bets per day.

Fields

  • Ticker — Stock symbol (e.g., AAPL)
  • Direction — Long or Short
  • Reason — A short thesis to make intent explicit

Practice: Watch Bets

If you miss the daily window, create a Watch Bet to simulate outcomes without affecting your record. Watch Bets fetch the opening and current price for today to show hypothetical performance.

Live Tracking

When markets are open, the app displays the active bet’s live P/L with entry price, current price, and percent change. Outside market hours, the interface emphasizes planning the next bet.

Track Record & Stats

The Track Record view summarizes performance:

  • Score Over Time — Simple cumulative performance line
  • Win Rate — Percentage of winning days
  • Streaks — Current and longest win streaks
  • History — Per-day outcomes with details

Retrospective

For completed bets, add notes and select a decision quality tag (e.g., Good decision, Bad decision, Lucky win, Unlucky loss) to reinforce learning over time.
