Open the app, tap the Capture tab, enter your idea, and tap Save. That's it. Everything else is optional but powerful.
Siri will prompt you "What's your idea?" and automatically save it to the app.

All data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. Nothing is sent to external servers. Your ideas stay completely private on your device.
If you have iCloud Backup enabled, your data may be included in encrypted backups managed by Apple.
Use tags to categorize ideas. Create tags on-the-fly when capturing ideas by tapping the [+] button in the tags section.
You can then filter ideas by tag or status in the ideas list view.
Change status by tapping on an idea and using the status picker.
An optional field to define the very first action you'll take to move the idea forward. Research shows that defining a clear first step dramatically increases the likelihood of execution.
You can mark the first step as complete without changing the overall idea status.
Tap the search icon [?] in the ideas list to enable semantic search. This finds ideas based on meaning and context, not just exact word matches.

The stats tab displays:
Currently, idea.log stores data locally only. Cloud sync across devices is not available but may be added in a future update.
Export functionality is planned for a future update. For now, all data remains on your device.
idea.log is designed with dark mode as the primary interface. The terminal-inspired aesthetic works best in dark mode, which is enabled by default.
If the Siri shortcut isn't appearing:
The shortcuts system sometimes needs a fresh start to recognize new intents.
Don't filter ideas when capturing. The beauty of idea.log is frictionless capture. Sort and prioritize later.
Ideas with defined first steps are 3x more likely to be executed. Take 10 seconds to write one clear action.
Tags like "work," "side-project," "weekend," or "5-min" help you quickly filter ideas by context or time commitment.
The stats tab shows patterns in your idea generation. High capture rate but low completion? Focus on execution.
