idea.log (iOS)

Last Updated: November 2025

Zero Data Collection

idea.log collects zero data. Everything stays on your device. We couldn't access your ideas even if we wanted to.

Overview

idea.log is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains our data practices for the idea.log iOS application ("idea.log" or "the App").

Data Collection

We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your data on external servers.

All data created in idea.log is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This includes:

  • Ideas - All ideas you capture via text, voice, or Siri
  • Tags - Tags you create to organize ideas
  • Comments - Comments you add to ideas
  • First Steps - Optional first step actions
  • Status Tracking - Progress status for each idea
  • Usage Statistics - Stats displayed in the app (stored locally only)

Permissions

idea.log requests the following permissions to enable certain features:

Microphone Access

Required for the voice input feature. Audio is processed locally on your device using Apple's Speech Recognition framework. No audio is transmitted to external servers.

Speech Recognition

Used to convert voice input to text. Processing is done locally on your device through iOS system services.

Siri Integration

Allows you to capture ideas via Siri shortcuts ("Hey Siri, I have an idea"). Data is handled locally through Apple's App Intents framework. No data leaves your device.

Third-Party Services

idea.log does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

  • No analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
  • No crash reporting services
  • No advertising networks
  • No user behavior tracking

Data Storage

All data is stored exclusively on your device in the app's sandboxed container. Your data is never:

  • Transmitted to external servers
  • Shared with third parties
  • Used for advertising or analytics
  • Accessible by us or anyone else

Data Deletion

You can delete your data at any time by:

  • Deleting individual ideas - Swipe left on any idea in the list view
  • Deleting the app - Removes all data permanently from your device

Since all data is stored locally, deleting the app permanently removes all your ideas, tags, and comments.

iCloud and Backups

If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your device, your idea.log data may be included in your encrypted iCloud backup according to Apple's backup policies. This is managed by iOS, not by idea.log.

We do not have access to your iCloud backups. This is handled entirely by Apple's systems.

Children's Privacy

idea.log does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. Since no data leaves your device, COPPA compliance is inherent to the app's design.

App Store Integration

If distributed through the Apple App Store, purchases and updates are handled by Apple. We receive only anonymized reports as provided by Apple; your billing information is not shared with us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Since we collect no data, changes will primarily clarify or update the policy text rather than introduce new data collection practices.

Your Rights

Since we don't collect or store any of your data on our servers, traditional data rights (access, deletion, portability) are already satisfied by design:

  • Right to Access - All your data is visible within the app
  • Right to Deletion - Delete ideas within the app or delete the entire app
  • Right to Portability - Currently not supported, but planned for future updates
